LO1 Types of Radio Stations
The first type of radio station is public broadcasting and this type of radio station can be locally operated or nationally, depending on which country or station it is set it. However in some countries only a signer origination run public broadcasting, and other countries can have multiple public broadcasting organisations who are operating regionally or are operating in different countries and languages. In the past, public broadcasting was once the only form of broadcasting in loads of different countries. Examples of this are Classic FM, Talk Sport UK etc
The second type of radio station is a national radio station, a good example of this BBC Radio, Talk Sport etc. These types of radio stations broadcast to the entirety of the UK and they ca be controlled by and independent group of the UK government. National Radio stations re usually the most well known radio stations and were first broadcasted in 1990 when the firs broadcasting act passed
The next type of radio stations are regional radio stations and what they specialise in is covering multiple county area in the UK, some examples of these radio stations are BBC Scotland, BBC Radio Wales. These types of stations broadcast to specific areas in the UK and they can both me independent and non independent
Then there is community radio stations and these radio stations are opened and ran by by the people who listen to them, they usually do not get any profit however they talk about what they want and allow other listeners to talk about their interests, some examples of this are South Humberside community radio station
Internet radio is a service available to stream online, so you can listen to it on your computer or other device with wifi. However internet will be required in order to access this
hospital radio is a radio service that was created for hospital patrons, this will be hosted by volunteers and is used to help keep the patients entertained and not bored whilst being stuck in the hospital
