 Choose a radio station and outline:

The radio station I am going to be talking about is BBC Radio 1. BBC radio 1 is owned and ran by the conglomerate company BBC and was founded on the 30th OF September 1967 it specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day, it is also a national radio station which means it is broadcasted to all areas of the UK instead of just being broadcasted to a specific part of the UK and this is also an advantage as it allows for a wider target audience and more listeners, however the down side to this is they have to play a mix of everything to make it suitable for all listeners. This radio station is also owned by a conglomerate which is called BBC which means that BBC radio one is a subsidiary. BBC Radio 1 is also a public service broadcaster (PSB) which means that the broadcasting is intended for public entertainment rather than to make any profit.

Because they are a public service broadcasting station the way they get paid is through is licenses so for example when people pay for tv licenses that money then funds the radio station. Also as because of Synergy they also have other broadcasting channels such as BBC Radio 1 extra and BBC Radio 2, these programmes offer a more different listening experience if people want to switch it up from just the top 40 charts. For example BBC Radio 1 extra is aimed towards the same audience which are 15-30 year olds but adds. little bit more about the music and allows the hosts to talk for. little bit longer which is currently Greg James.

The main goal of the BBC Radio 1 is to entertain and engage a wide variety of listeners ad the main target audience for them is people aged around 15-29 years old. On average the programme pulls in about 8,167,000 listens in one week and the types of things they present are modern popular music which they present through their top 40 chart in where they count down the most listened songs down in order. However if people who stay up listen to it the genres can occasionally change up to for example classical, dance, or electronica music or sometimes they allow listers of the show to call I and present their own music for recognition.
